Adding a slideshow :D
So, it was just spring break and I went someplace sunny! Yay! I want to share with you some photos from key West. As an added craziness, I added the slideshow gadget + signed up for photobucket. It was a little confusing at first but I got the hang of it. The slideshow is this way -----> so enjoy!

Embedding video?
Let's see if I can do this!
In my final semester here, I'm still taking a gen-ed! (Haha...) It's Non-Western Religious Traditions and it is definitely more insightful than I first thought it was going to be. This past week, we watched a performance of Zen music... the thing about it is, it's four minutes and thirty-three seconds of the performer NOT playing the instrument and the audience observing. That's right... The piece is "silent" for lack of a better word. The whole concept of it is really confusing to me still, but it has to do with concentrating on the world around you and realize that the music and the true emotions that we feel is dependent on what's around you and what's happening in the moment. The ambient sound is what makes the performance and it's different every single time. A new experience to experience.
Below is a performance of the piece with full orchestral accompaniment. Enjoy!
How do I make it smaller?! I tried screwing around with the width on HTML but didn't work...
Nevermind, I fixed it!

My exposure to HTML/tagging
Since I can't even remember when, I've been part of this online community on a forum that uses Yuku for their message boards (it used to be called EZBoard but it switched at some point which really pissed off a lot of people because so many files were lost, but...). I probably started with this online community since I was about 13, and when I had to make a post, I would have to tag a lot of things (they toolbars weren't as fancy as they are today). So essentially, I learned about tagging through that. It was a little different from HTML though because you needed to use brackets [] instead of the less than/greater than signs <>.
Now looking back on it, I can see how the art of HTML has changed significantly. On this message board, to tag an image, you'd have to end the tag with [/img] while in HTML now I guess you don't really need to end it because it's its own little tag with the source and everything. I also remember that I would always have to upload the picture myself on an image hosting site (I usually use imageshack) so I could get a URL to the picture on the internet. Now you can just find a picture on your own computer and I guess it creates a link for it kind of like what Dropbox does when we upload files onto there.
The fun part, though, was that I created a thread in this online community that basically was like 'What cool things can you do while posting?" and the basic gist of it was you had to use the tagging/HTML tags that were in the EZBoard program to make cool and colorful posts. We'd manipulate font sizes and color schemes with the tags, and it got really crazy sometimes. One space or character where it shouldn't be and it messed up the entire post... and since we weren't really that digitally savvy (we were 13 or 14!), we'd get really upset when it didn't work out because the only way we knew how to fix it was to do it all over again. It took ages and sometimes with all the different tags of color and size, EZBoard couldn't take it and it'd just shut down your connection.
To remember the good times, I'm going to play around with the text, and I guess I'm going to upload a picture or something. Here we go!
ROYG...
Ok, I stopped because this isn't like the old school way. I didn't realize that it would actually the change the font color right here in the Compose window. Talk about boring and unchallenging! Picture time?
Marry me, Lady Gaga!
